An introduction to the Department of Sociology
In March 2004, Hohai University established the Department of Sociology as one organization of the School of Public Administration. Later, a part of the faculty of the department established the Institute of Applied Psychology. In 2007, this institute became an independent organization of the School of Public Administration.
Now the Department of Sociology has 12 fellows. Two of them are professors, and three of them are associate professors. Ten of them have PhD degrees, and two of them are doing their PhD researches.
Since its establishment, the Department of Sociology has stressed its high quality and distinctiveness. Taking into account the tendencies of domestic and foreign sociology, the department chooses it won directions to pursue outstanding research achievements and to cultivate sociological experts who not only master theory but also understand the social reality in China.
Professor Chen A-Jiang is the dean of the department, and Associate Professor Gu Jintu is the vice-dean. Dr. Yang Fang is the secretary of CCP branch.
The Research Center of Environment and Society
In August 2010, the Research Center of Environment and Society was founded to make use of the vantage point of the Department of Sociology to cooperate with other disciplines. This research center is a trans-disciplinary platform for academic communication.
Professor Chen A-Jiang is the director of the center, and Associate Professor Gu Jintu is the vice-director.
The Research Center of Social Survey
In August 2013, the Research Center of Social Survey was founded to make use of the vantage point of the Department of Sociology to offer survey services for Jiangsu and other provinces. This research center is also a platform for academic communication.
Professor Wang Yijie is the director of the center, and Dr. Mao Miankui is the vice-director.
